    The N.C. Department of Transportation says nearly eight miles of Interstate 795 in Wilson will be repaved beginning after April 30. A news release from the department said a Raleigh contractor will mill away the top layer of old asphalt and resurface the freeway and its ramps between the Wilson-Wayne county line and Wiggins Mill Road. This project is one of 16 road and bridge contracts recently awarded by NCDOT.

    Two people have been sentenced to prison and a third is awaiting sentencing after admitting to charges of sex trafficking involving a teenage girl. The U.S. Attorney's office said 41-year-old Bobby Williams Jr. of Stantonsburg was given 15 years in prison and 40-year-old Temeeka Honey of Wilson was sentenced to five years and one month in prison.

Actually, the two junior varsity teams needed two overtime periods before Ashe claimed a 61-54 victory over the Pioneers on Dec. 1. The teams were tied at 43-43 at the end of regulation and 52-52 after the first overtime.
