    The new Publix supermarket located at 2004 S. Glenburnie Road in New Bern will have its grand opening on Wednesday at 7 a.m. According to an online leasing brochure posted on developer Crosland Southeast's website, the three-building shopping center also will include a McAlister's Deli, a Moe's Southwest Grill and a Great Clips hair salon, with space still available for other tenants. Out of the 1,102 Publix supermarkets throughout the Southeast, this will be the first coastal store in North Carolina, said Kim Reynolds, spokesperson for Publix.

    Meadow George Lemon III began his life in the Brooklyn section of Wilmington in 1932, attended school in Williston and punched his ticket out of the Jim Crow South by joining the most famous basketball team in the country in 1954, the Harlem Globetrotters. "These incredible athletes seemed to make that basketball talk," Lemon wrote of the Globetrotters in his 2010 autobiography.
