    Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said for the first time Friday that he is confident that the cities of Long Beach and Los Angeles will reach a resolution over a controversial $500 million rail yard project before it goes to trial. In comments made after a meeting with the Los Angeles News Group editorial board, Garcetti said he hopes the two cities can come to an agreement by next year over measures that would buffer the BNSF Railway 's Southern California International Gateway from Long Beach schools and homes that border the railyard project.
