    The Riverside County Sheriff's Department arrested a 31-year-old man early Saturday, Dec. 3, suspected of stealing a sheriff's vehicle before leading deputies on a pursuit with it. Alvin James Smith Jr. was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, evading a peace officer, being a felon in possession of a firearm and being a felon in possession of ammunition, according to online jail records.

The focus of the hearing is a request to divide 1.8 acres on Orchard St. into three lots that would accommodate single-family residences.

Agustin Cruz, who turns 48 on Sunday, was arrested at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar, a sheriff's news release said.
