    A' Thomas Claude Clock III, a former Whitehall funeral director facing felony fraud charges for alleged empty-box burials, has pleaded guilty to one of two drunk-driving cases against him. Muskegon County District Judge Andrew Wierengo III on Wednesday, April 13, accepted Clock's guilty plea to driving while intoxicated-second offense, a misdemeanor.

    Whitehall police arrested a second suspect April 8 in connection with a homicide last week -- the city's second of the year. Dampha was arrested at a residence in East Columbus, where she reportedly was staying with an acquaintance of Emanuell Moncrief, 19. Police arrested Moncrief on April 4 in the murder of 56-year-old Edward Earl Braswell outside his East Main Street apartment April 2. Dampha is charged with complicity to murder, a first-degree felony, and a felony charge of tampering with evidence.

    White Lake Ambulance Authority answered one question about its future at a special meeting last Wednesday, but more critical questions about how or whether the service will continue may be answered this Tuesday . The WLAA board, during a special noon meeting in the Whitehall City Hall council room, voted to agree to a temporary lease to use portions of the Montague Fire District Authority station to house operations after April 30 which is the deadline the City of Whitehall has given the authority to vacate its current facility it leases from Whitehall.

    The Whitehall ex-funeral director charged with fraud for alleged empty-box burials also had a deceased woman's family dig their own hole at a cemetery to bury what they thought were her ashes, according to a newly unsealed court record. Thomas Claude Clock III allegedly told the family of the late Helen Anthony on Dec. 28, 2015, that "there was no hole in which to bury the remains because Fruitland Township's employees were not working because of the holidays," according to a sworn affidavit by Muskegon County Sheriff's Detective Tim LaVigne.
