    A Wharton man pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver between 4 and 200 grams of methamphetamine on Jan. 14. Wharton law enforcement answering a disturbance call met Wilder arguing with his girlfriend at a gas station on Feb. 17. When he was asked to step out of the vehicle, an officer found a crack pipe in Wilder's jacket. That officer then initiated a probable cause search of the vehicle, finding a handgun, marijuana and other suspected narcotics, including 4.39 grams of methamphetamine, Kurtz wrote in a news release.

    A 24-year-old Mexican citizen was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty on June 11 to possession of a controlled substance of more than 400 grams on June 11. Victor Herrera Rodriguez, of Matamoros, Mexico, was northbound on U.S. Highway 59 on June 25, 2014 when he was pulled over for speeding by Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Thomas Arriaga, Wharton County District Attorney Ross Kurtz in a news release. Arriaga noticed Rodriguez was nervous and making contradictory statements about his travel plans.
