    A 63-year-old Minneapolis woman died after her canoe capsized on the high, swift water of the Root River near Whalan Saturday, June 18. The Fillmore County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at 2:37 p.m. asking for medical help on the bike trail along the Root River just east of Whalan. Wendy Beth Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene after first responders started CPR when they found her unresponsive upon arriving.
