    A Westerville resident has died from injuries suffered in a fire Thursday night, April 23, in his apartment building at 10 W. Park St. Jerry M. Favorite, 52, died over the weekend of April 25 after succumbing to injuries suffered in the fire, city officials said. According to Westerville spokeswoman Christa Dickey, a city police officer noticed the smell of smoke in the area -- two buildings away from the police station -- about 11 p.m. Officers investigated and found smoke coming from the apartment building just west of State Street.

    Westerville police are looking for a 34-year-old Columbus man who reportedly fled the scene of an accident involving a car rented under another person's name about 2:30 a.m. April 23. According to police reports, an officer attempted to stop the man for speeding as the vehicle was heading north on Sunbury Road near the Central College area, but he reportedly refused to stop. The officer followed him and heard a crash and turned a corner to see the vehicle wrecked into a dumpster in the 1100 block of Whitney Lane .

    The body of a missing Westerville seventh-grader was pulled from a pond at the southern edge of the school district Tuesday afternoon, April 28. Nebiat Aregay, 14, was found dead in a pond in Columbus near Cleveland Avenue and Morse Road, a short distance from her home. She was reported missing Monday evening, April 27 and was last seen alive about 3:30 p.m., getting off the school bus near the 2400 block of Goldengate Square South in Columbus.
