    A single-vehicle crash occurred Friday afternoon near the corner of state Route 41 and state Route 136 at Ellis Farms when a pickup truck, driven by Larry Applegate went off the road and crashed into the side of a barn. Applegate, a man who had done electrical work for the farm in the past, was heading southwest out of West Union, veered off state Route 41, continued through a field and crashed through the side of a barn. 3 comments

    A very warm Saturday morning and afternoon greeted three local baseball teams as they gathered at Georgetown High School for a triple header of action on May 2. The West Union Dragons, Ripley Blue Jays, and host Georgetown G-Men spend a long day in the heat and on the diamond with the day beginning at 10 a.m. and not ending until nearly 6 p.m. The G-Men were the only team that survived unscathed, going 2-0 on the day, while the Dragons split at 1 - 1, and the Jays dropped both their contests. The opening tilt of the triple header matched up two teams from the Southern Hills Athletic Conference as West Union and Ripley faced off in a non-conference affair.
