    A West Salem man hit a buggy on U.S. 224, causing seven people to be ejected from the vehicle and injured on Sunday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Patrick A. Muscaro, 47, was driving east on U.S. 224 by County Road 581 in a 2002 Ford Taurus when he struck the buggy from behind, according to the Ashland post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

    A West Salem man was listed in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Akron City Hospital on Sunday as the result of injuries received in a two-vehicle accident Saturday on U.S. Route 42 near the border of Ashland and Wayne counties. Jeremiah McElfresh, 41, of West Salem, was upgraded from critical to serious condition Sunday, according to a report from the Wooster Post of the State Highway Patrol.

    The animal reportedly had left the field, entered the road and then walked through a parking lot and was butting a door on a church. 1:21 p.m. - An oversize load struck wires and caused them to drop lower at Ohio 58 and Ohio 89. A tractor-trailer that followed shortly thereafter struck the low-hanging wires and pulled over the pole, damaging the front corner of the trailer on the driver's side.

The call came in about 4 p.m. and firefighters from at four area fire departments responded to the fire, while the Ashland County Sheriff's Office and Ohio State Highway Patrol directed traffic.
