    The West Linn girls lacrosse team stepped outside the Three Rivers League to do just that on Friday, battling Oregon Episcopal School for 50 minutes before the Aardvarks pulled away to win 12-9 at OES. "They're always a good matchup and it's always good to have a close game because we don't always get those during the league season," said senior midfielder Adina Mollusky, who scored two goals on Friday.

    While Lake Oswego is comfortably in first place in the Three Rivers League season-long standings, the Bowmen, Tigers and Timberwolves, as well as West Linn, are locked up in quite a battle for second, third and fourth place. The important thing about that is that the league champion, which certainly looks like it will be Lake Oswego, will go on to compete at the Class 6A state tournament, while the next three teams in the final TRL standings will advance to play in the regional tournament, with a chance to advance to state.

    The Lake Oswego boys track and field team did just that on April 12, edging away from a competitive West Linn team to win 60-49 in rain-soaked conditions at Lake Oswego High School. It was worth it for the Lakers, too, giving the team its first win in Three Rivers League action and lifting its record to 1-2 while the loss dropped the Lions' record to 1-2 as well.

    With concerns over storm drainage at the center of West Linn's Sunset Primary School controversy, it was perhaps ironic that a snow and ice storm hit Portland Dec. 8 - the same day as a hearing at the Land Use Board of Appeals in Salem. Attorney Peggy Hennessy, who represents the Save Our Sunset Park group that is appealing the construction of a new Sunset Primary School, was forced to participate by conference call due to the weather, but both sides were nonetheless able to make their cases in a hearing that lasted about an hour.
