    Five West Leyden residents were taken to a hospital for evaluation after they were involved in a two-car, head-on crash at 4:26 p.m. Friday on Route 26 in the town of Lee. Oneida County sheriff's deputies said Carrie A. Ward, 45, West Leyden, was driving south in a 2017 Mitsubishi when she made a left turn in front of an oncoming vehicle being driven by Kristin L. Healt, 43, West Leyden, causing the collision.

    A Constableville dairy barn was destroyed and an unspecified number of livestock inside were killed during a fire early Monday morning. Lewis County emergency officials said in a news release that the fire at 2641 West Road was first seen by a Constableville firefighter who spotted a glow in the distance around 5:30 a.m. Upon arrival, the firefighter found the barn fully engulfed in flames and awoke the owner, Daniel Hrim, to call 911.

    A Glenfield man was sentenced Friday in Lewis County Court to undergo a drug rehabilitation program as an alternative to state prison time on a drunken- driving charge. Ryan M. O'Connell, 33, 8062 Sand Pond Road, was sentenced to one to three years in state prison on a felony driving-while-intoxicated charge, to which he pleaded guilty Oct. 13; however, he was mandated for the state prison system's 90-day Willard Drug Rehabilitation Program, which allows inmates who successfully complete it to serve the remainder of their prison sentences under parole supervision.
