    On Tuesday, Dec. 12, I attended a scrimmage game between the Amity Spartans and the Masuk Panthers Varsity ice Hockey Teams. Of course, the scrimmages don't count for the season, but from what I saw out on the ice in what resulted in a 6-3 "victory" for the Spartans, this year's team, with its 11 seniors, promises to give fans something to cheer about.

Orange Police were called to the scene of a motor vehicle crash at Route 34 and Route 152 in which a light-colored minivan struck another vehicle from behind, then fled the scene, eastbound, on Route 34 without stopping.

    The fire that forced the evacuation of customers and staff at TGI Fridays on Saturday night is being blamed on equipment failure, specifically an exhaust hood in the kitchen, according to Fire Marshal Tim Smith. Around 7:45 p.m. on Oct. 21 while bar customers were watching the Major League baseball games and others were having a meal in the dining room an alarm went off, alerting the Orange Volunteer Fire Department of a problem.

The Orange Volunteer Fire Department, which is right across the Boston Post Road from the restaurant responded in no time and quickly called for firefighters' assistance from Woodbridge VFD and West Haven.

    Deirdre M. Daly, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that Jamila Williams-Stevenson, 37, of West Haven, was sentenced to 48 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for operating a fraud and identity theft scheme. According to court documents and statements made in court, between 2012 and July 2016, Williams-Stevenson and Lorena Coburn worked together to steal personal identifying information from victims and commit fraud using the stolen information.
