    Join members of the Groton Trails Committee on a guided hike on the Indian Rock Trail and the Boulders Trail of the Gamlin Crystal Spring Conservation Area in Groton. This beautiful conservation area, owned by the Groton Conservation Trust, is accessed via skillfully routed trails and features dense woods, rocky outcrops, a porcupine den, beaver ponds, huge boulders, and an old "lost" quarry.

    Realizing that their plan to establish a Charter Review Committee was premature, selectmen decided to hold off appointing the committee until the spring. The move came after the Finance Committee brought to selectmen's attention that wording in the Charter itself indicated that although such a Review Committee could be appointed before spring town meeting, its work could only begin afterwards with recommendations if any to be made the following year.

    Town officials scrambled to adjust to a new environment in which the sale of the former Prescott Elementary School building was blocked by residents at the first session of fall town meeting. Momentum for the expected sale of the historic building had reached a point where both town and school officials had fully expected authorization to proceed would be given to the Board of Selectmen but when the measure failed to receive a two-thirds vote of those attending town meeting, the status quo ante was restored.
