The event was sponsored by the Great Sacandaga Lake Fisheries Federation at Sport Island Pub to raise funds to stock the lake with rainbow and brown trout and walleyes.

The shop, which showcases and sells artwork from area painters, photographers, sculptors and others, will be open Fridays from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sundays 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A meet-the-artists reception will also be held at the center on Friday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

    A Connecticut man has been convicted of a felony charge after state Inspector General Catherine Leahy Scott said he falsified a safety inspection of a Hamilton County bridge in 2013. Akram Ahmad, 58, of Bridgeport, CT., was convicted after two-and-a-half days of testimony by a Hamilton County Court jury of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing on Monday.
