    Bobby Chafin had returned early to the job site in the Weirton Steel blast furnace department and was waiting for his co-workers when a ladle car filled with molten slag being pulled on the railroad tracks exploded. The ambulances couldn't reach where Chaffin was because of the slag that covered the immediate area and oxygen bottles blowing up.

Jevante Childs, 24, of Steubenville, was sentenced to three to 15 years in the state penitentiary after pleading guilty to attempted murder.
