    Illinois State Police say that a Watseka couple was killed in a head-on collision in that city Sunday afternoon. State Police say John Dowling was traveling eastbound in a van on Route 24 near Oppyville Road around 2:15 yesterday afternoon when he entered the westbound lane of traffic and hit a truck head-on.

    John Weber, of rural Watseka, was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Illinois Route 1, about five miles north of Crescent City, on Monday. According to a preliminary investigation, Weber was southbound on Illinois Route 49 when he attempted to turn east onto 2300N Road.

    Three individuals and one relay team made it to today's IHSA State Track and Field Finals at O'Brien Field at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, with Watseka's Keegan Zack and Herscher's 4x200 relay team finding themselves on the podium. Zack, who also qualified for the preliminaries in the long jump, finished ninth place in the Class 1A triple jump, with a distance of 42-feet-7.5. Herscher's relay team, consisting of Quinnton Becker, Jacob Allen, Jacob Schultz and Brandon Sommer took home the fifth place medal in the Class 2A 4-X-200, posting a time of 1:28.61.
