    There will be several workshops for people seeking relief for flooding damage along the St. Lawrence River and Lake Ontario, including one in Ogdensburg July 24. Mayor Wayne Ashley is co-host of the 6 p.m. workshop at the Dobisky Visitors Center, 100 Riverside Ave. Small businesses, farms, not-for-profits, municipalities and homeowners, including seasonal homeowners, are eligible for some of the $45 million in aid approved by state government and promoted by Sen. Patty Ritchie, R-Heuvelton. Aid will be granted on a first come-first served basis.

At its height, the Jones and Laughlin Steel Corporation fed steel plants in Pennsylvania and Ohio an average of 1 million tons of iron ore sinter from the mine, known as Benson Mines before being purchased by the corporation.
