    In the first hearing since the Vermont Supreme Court returned a civil suit against the Brattleboro Retreat to Windham County, attorneys for the Retreat, Northeast Kingdom Human Services and the family of Michael Kuligoski discussed how to go about deposing clinicians who cared for Evan Rapoza. Rapoza, who legally changed his name to Jon Evan Fox several years ago, attacked and beat Kuligoski, a furnace technician, with a wrench in February 2011 while Kuligoski was working at a property owned by the Rapoza family.

    The family of a plumber who was seriously injured by Evan Rapoza, a man suffering from a mental illness, has lost its appeal to hold the grandparents of Rapoza liable for the attack. On Feb. 26, 2011, Rapoza assaulted and severely injured Michael Kuligoski while Rapoza was helping his father with work at an apartment building owned by the grandparents.
