    For two decades, the Nevada Department of Transportation has had a warning system in place when wind speeds are too dangerous for drivers in Washoe Valley. Meg Ragonese with NDOT says they used to have nine of these warning signs in place, but they now have 34. She hopes the additional signage will make it easier for drivers to recognize the wind restrictions and plan their travels accordingly.

    Drivers on I-580 and other freeways approaching Washoe Valley will temporarily see roadside flashing signs prohibiting semi-trucks and other vehicles over nine feet tall between approximately 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16 as the Nevada Department of Transportation tests a new, enhanced wind warning system through the Valley. During these tests, drivers of high-profile vehicles and passenger vehicles will still be permitted to travel on I-580 and Alternate U.S. 395 between Reno and Carson City.

    Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful held its 25th annual Christmas Tree Recycling program this year and results are in! 9,550 Christmas trees were recycled thanks to the help of 530 volunteers, including families, businesses and community groups. Trees were chipped in to mulch and at some sites, turned into a treats for goats! Goat Grazers partnered with KTMB this year to help keep trees out of the landfill.
