Daniel Kramer, owner of burger haven Duke's Grocery , is expanding his portfolio by opening what will be D.C.'s first traditional Korean barbecue restaurant inside the Shay apartment building at 1924 Eighth Street NW. Ongoing Overhaul at Momofuku CCDC Nixes Ramen

Washingtonian reports that restaurateur David Chang has given the new chef at Momofuku CCDC the green light to "destroy" the menu - a reset that includes phasing out the NY import's iconic ramen and bao buns . The noodle soup is still available at lunch , but the kitchen is more interested in having customers try the new middleneck clam toast with Sichuan sausage or green curry-spiked roast chicken accompanied by chicken fat rice. D.C.'s Lone Capriotti's Has Closed

Capriotti's, the decades-old sandwich chain that had friends in high places during the previous administration, closed its flagship D.C. location on December 29. A spokeswoman for the now-nationwide company tells Eater the four-year-old Dupont Circle outpost was let go due to real estate issues. "We have decided to close the store because the lease was coming to an end," the Capriotti aide says. Comment?

Washington Business Journal reports that Urban Butcher chef Raynold Mandizabal is expected to open a 4,000-square-foot restaurant next summer in a new retail/housing complex in Silver Spring, Maryland. No word on whether it will feature a " meat mountain " similar to the mixed grill Mandizabal introduced earlier this month at his flagship eatery. Comment?

City Tap House in Dupont Circle opened yesterday for its first dinner service. The huge 9,300-square-foot restaurant is open for dinner this week, brunch and dinner this upcoming weekend, and will start serving lunch the following week. Comment?

Downtown's Rural Society Has Closed

Rural Society , the Argentinian steakhouse from Iron Chef alum and Philadelphia restaurateur Jose Garces, has closed after three years in D.C. The news is tied to the new hotel flag flying at 1177 15th Street NW. The property previously known as the Loews Madison Hotel was recently sold and is now being managed by Hilton Hotels. Comment?

The Washington Post reports that Red Apron Butcher 's dedicated burger stand is closing in Dupont Circle on Sunday, September 3, and relocating across town to become part of sibling establishment Eatbar . The short-lived eatery, which is projected to resurface along Barracks Row on Tuesday, September 5, is expected to focus on District-only deliveries but will also be available for dine-in at its new home. Japanese rice bowl slinger Donburi is going for volume at its new spot just south of Dupont Circle, moving into a space with quadruple the seating capacity of the flagship restaurant while providing more casual service. Washingtonian reports that founder James Jang is tweaking the business model he established four years ago in Adams Morgan ; Rather than replicate his intimate dining venue, the second outpost involves ordering at a main counter, monitoring a buzzer, and later collecting the protein-packed selections the kitchen is known for. Sandwich Chain Capriotti's Wants to Open 20 More Shops in D.C., Plus More Intel

Forty-one-year-old sub shop Capriotti's is looking to grow within the DMV, mapping out plans to open nearly three dozen new stores between D.C. and Baltimore . The Delaware-based sandwich chain wants to build on the handful of outposts it currently operates in the immediate area by adding 20 restaurants in and around the District as well as 15 more surrounding Charm City, with an additional 15 stores slated for development up near Philadelphia. Washingtonian reports that Maketto chef and founder Erik Bruner-Yang has revamped the menu at months-old Ten Tigers Parlour in Petworth to include more Asian snack foods, including pork buns, spring rolls, and noodle bowls.
