    Members of the Warren Planning Board conducted a site walk May 11 at the current Andes Variety to see firsthand what the proposed new store will look like. The Warren mainstay presented its pre-application plan to build a significantly larger store at its current 1625 Atlantic Highway location April 18. The proposal calls for the demolition of the current buildings at 1625 and 1607 Atlantic Highway and construction of a new convenience store within the developed area of the store parcel, and construction of a redemption center on the adjacent parcel, where a single-family home and garage currently exist.

    After receiving recommendations from the Budget Committee, the Warren Board of Selectmen made its final adjustments April 12 and approved a proposed 4.2 percent increase in the amount to be raised by taxes for the 2017-2018 municipal budget. The biggest impact on expenses -- which are up $118,585, or 4.9 percent, from last year -- is being realized by the Sandy Shores Road bridge repair and culvert replacement, according to Town Manager Bill Lawrence.
