A Ware Shoals man is facing a number of charges after he reportedly choked a police officer nearly to the point of unconsciousness, according to a Ware Shoals police report. Johnny Joe Hughes, 50, of 6 Sparks Ave., Ware Shoals, has been charged with attempted murder, resisting arrest with assault on officer, disorderly conduct, third- degree assault and battery, and trespass after notice in connection with the incident.
