    The MBTA's proposal to run a pilot program of daily trains to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro would cost at least $11 million, including to upgrade the tracks itself, T officials revealed today amid heated debate over the controversial plan. The pilot program itself would cost $950,000, or more than double the $411,000 officials are projecting it would bring to the T in rider and parking revenue.

    Massachusetts State Police have arrested a man they allege was under the influence of alcohol and drugs when he drove the wrong way on two highways and caused an accident. Police say 24-year-old Ahmed Ziad, of Norwell, was stopped just after midnight Friday on a highway off-ramp in Wellesley.

The pilot program, which an MBTA spokesman said wouldn't start until at least the fall of 2018, would revive a version of a controversial but larger plan from 2014, under the Patrick administration, to run full service to Gillette, only to be sidelined amid intense local opposition.

    The MBTA wants to run daily commuter trains from Boston to Gillette Stadium under an approximately year-long pilot program, according to a proposal state transportation officials plan to pitch to local leaders in the coming weeks. The pilot program, which an MBTA spokesman said wouldn't start until at least the fall of 2018, would revive a version of a controversial plan the state pushed in the waning months of former Gov. Deval Patrick's second term, only to be sidelined amid intense local opposition.
