    COVENTRY: Summit County sheriff's deputies are seeking the persons who assaulted a juvenile while he walked on Wymore Avenue just after midnight May 30. A Portage Lakes Drive man was arrested on two felony theft warrants June 1 and taken to the Summit County Jail. Following a traffic stop at the intersection of South Arlington and Killian roads June 9, a Wadsworth woman was charged with possession of marijuana and released with a court summons.

    The Norton City Schools Board of Education approved a contract for the new varsity boys basketball coach at the May 15 meeting. The decision not to renew the supplemental contract for longtime boys coach Rod Swartz had sparked protests at the previous board meeting with numerous residents addressing the board to argue the decision should be overturned.

    Highland Local Schools officials announced Carrie Knapp will be the new principal at Highland High School , effective Aug. 1. She will replace Dana Addis, who was selected superintendent of Norton City Schools, a position he will also begin Aug. 1. Knapp, a Wadsworth resident, has served as the HHS assistant principal for the past four years. During her time at the school, district officials said she has been instrumental in the development of several initiatives, including the creation of a new Academic Learning Lab period.

Throughout the past year, he said, he handled a total of 6,091 cases. He said $1.3 million was received by the court and $9,200 in restitution was paid.
