    Anson County will hold its annual senior Christmas luncheon at South Piedmont Community College's Lockhart-Taylor Center in Wadesboro beginning at 11 a.m. on Dec. 7 and 8. Meals will be held on two days due to limited seating capacity, with up to 250 seniors served each day. A turkey lunch with sides, dessert and tea will be served, and guests can participate in games.

    Town manager Alex Sewell said Thursday the contractor will put a fence up on Friday, and that the demolition is scheduled for 8 a.m. Saturday. "There is some fire damage on part of the building but I apologize as it was before my time so I don't know the specifics," Sewell said via email.

    David Hanna and Scott Martin took a brush truck to Lake Lure to help fight the Party Rock fire, one of many fires burning across North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Kentucky. Wadesboro Fire Chief Marc Sessions said that his department received a request for help on Nov. 12, and that Hanna and Martin left at 7 a.m. the next day for seven days.

    Quashon Dujuan McRae, 23, is accused of threatening a man using a semiautomatic-style pistol to try and take the money on Oct. 8, according to arrest warrants. Wadesboro police arrested him on Nov. 15. McRae was charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and placed in the Anson County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.
