    The Anson County Board of Commissioners has unanimously voted to approve a request from the town of Wadesboro for the county to provide increased water supply for both the town and an industrial client. The commissioners sent a letter to Wadesboro Mayor Bill Thacker, dated Dec. 8, in which they formally voiced support for the town to receive an additional 1 million gallons per day on a continuing basis.

Joel Corto Ortiz pleaded guilty to felony assault with a deadly weapon for stabbing another inmate who was seriously hurt in the fight.

    As part of a continuing discussion from last month's meeting, the Anson County Board of Commissioners again talked about the possibility of the town of Wadesboro tapping into the county's water supply. According to a letter from Wadesboro Mayor Bill Thacker dated Oct. 6, the town needs to increase its county water usage from 700,000 gallons per day to 2 million gallons per day in order to continue to meet the town's needs, as well as to accommodate a new industrial client.
