    Danny Norton Davis, 63, was arrested Jan. 11 after police say he broke into a home on Pine Lane in Wadesboro between 6:30 and 10 p.m. that day planning to rob and "terrorize and injure" a woman inside. He was charged with misdemeanor resisting a public officer, as well as two counts each of second-degree burglary and breaking and entering to terrorize and/or injure, both felonies.

    Anson County operates 12 fire engines, eight tankers, two heavy rescue vehicles, one medium rescue vehicle, three water rescue boats, one surface water rescue unit and four squads out of eight fire stations answer approximately 3,000 calls a year, according to Josh Bowers, fire chief of Burnsville Volunteer Fire, Rescue and Ambulance Service in Polkton. Bowers, who also serves as the president of the Anson County Fire Chief's Association, stood before the county commissioners last week to ask for an increase in the fire tax to help alleviate rising monetary figures of equipment and operating costs.

    Demetrius Antwan Campbell, 23, of Wadesboro, broke into a home on White Store Road and pointed a handgun at the occupant on Jan. 7, stealing a 60" flat-screen television, according to arrest warrants. Campbell was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, which are all felonies.

    A Wadesboro man was charged late last month in a breaking and entering from early December, but police are seeking public assistance in identifying other potential cases. Detimothy Rashaun Smith, 23, was arrested on Dec. 21, 2016 on charges tied to a breaking and entering on Stuart Drive on Dec. 8. Smith was charged with breaking and entering and attempted larceny after breaking and entering.

Jasmine Burch, 25, died when a fire destroyed the home she was in on White Store Road on Jan. 1. Sessions said his department was dispatched at 10:30 a.m., arrived soon after and found four victims had escaped the fire while Burch was still inside.
