    Villa Rica will develop a new park in the Douglas County part of the city after receiving a gift of land from a regional conservation group. Mayor J. Collins and Villa Rica City Council members stood with representatives of the Southeastern Trust for Parks and Land and District 67 State Rep. Micah Gravley, R-Douglasville, Wednesday to announce the public-private partnership and acceptance of the gift of 159 acres of conservation land that will be developed into a passive park near the intersection of Conners and Nally roads, according to a news release on the city's Facebook page.

    The Douglas County Board of Assessors mailed 53,000 notices to property owners in Douglas County last week alerting them to the 2015 fair market appraisal of their real property, including houses, land, commercial buildings and other properties, the county government announced in a news release. About 3,000 additional notices are being mailed to owners of personal property, which includes business inventory, business equipment, furnishings, boats, airplanes and other taxable items.
