Officials said Diaz refused to stop when Victorville Sheriff's Station deputies attempted to pull his 1984 gray Chevy Monte Carlo over for expired registration near the intersection of Ridgecrest and Bear Valley roads, instead driving away at a high rate of speed.

In a Tuesday statement, the San Bernardino County District Attorney's office said the shooting of Strader Surratt, 32, of North Carolina, was deemed to be legally justified after Surratt opened fire on several deputies on Jan. 7, 2015.

    Members of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department's High Desert Regional Gang Team were conducting a follow-up investigation in a business parking lot in the area of Stoddard Wells Road and Interstate 15 at 3:55 p.m. According to authorities, a gray Honda Civic stopped approximately 20 yards from a deputy sitting in his vehicle and a female got out of the car and went into the business, leaving a man, identified as Victorville resident Andre Dobin, in the front passenger seat. "As soon as Dobin was alone in the car, the deputy observed him hold a brown handgun just visible above the vehicle's side window," sheriff's officials said in a statement.

    Authorities placed two men behind bars after a search of a home here resulted in the seizure of stolen guns and drugs on Nov. 3. Phillip Patterson, 29, and Wilbert Robertson, 55, both of Victorville, were arrested after San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department officials served a search warrant at a home in the 14000 block of Crossing Trail Street that day, officials stated Thursday. Robertson was detained as he was walking out of the home with “a stolen double-barrel shotgun” and Patterson, whom officials said is a documented gang member, was pulled over after he was seen leaving the home.
