    The case of three men accused of gang raping a 9-year-old girl in Vernal will be moved a second time after more than two dozen potential jurors in Summit County didn't show up for jury duty. In an order handed down Friday, 3rd District Judge Edwin Peterson wrote that as attorneys attempted to seat a jury in the case, it became apparent that the Summit County facility was too small and the jury pool too sparse to handle the 10-day trial.

    A Duchesne County Jail nurse has been criminally charged in the December death of a 21-year-old inmate who prosecutors say received no treatment despite being too weak to leave her jail bed after days of vomiting and diarrhea. Prosecutors in Utah's 8th District Court in Vernal Monday filed one count of negligent homicide, a class A misdemeanor, against Jana Clyde, 50. The nurse has denied her patient was going through drug withdrawal even though it was written on Madison Jensen's intake form, an investigator with Utah Attorney General's Office wrote in a probable cause statement.

U.S. Mine Safety & Health Administration spokeswoman Amy Louviere says the initial investigation indicates Stevens - a surface mechanic - was working alone and didn't report at the end of his shift on Wednesday.

The Ute Indian Tribe alleges that current Uintah County Sheriff Vance Norton trespassed onto the Ute reservation and shot Todd Murray, 21, in April 2007, following a police pursuit.

    Two men are in critical condition after a shooting in Vernal Thursday morning, according to Uintah County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Ed Spann. Police responded to reports of shots fired near 660 S. 2500 West around 6:30 a.m. Before they arrived, one wounded man was picked up by a "concerned citizen" just down the street from where the shooting happened and taken to Ashley Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
