    As many as 25,000 people attended the annual Montrose Oktoberfest this past Saturday, making the 38th year of the festival "the best year ever," according to officials with the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce. Crowds made their way to Honolulu Avenue for a day and night of German culture, rides, live music, games, food and, of course, beer.

Now in its 38th year, the event lets revelers fill their cups with three traditional brands of beer: Spaten Oktoberfestbier Ur-Marzen, Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse Hell and Spaten Munchner Hell.

    Teen Night Out will be held from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Friday at the Pacific Community Center, 501 S. Pacific Ave. The final performance in a music series in the plaza at Brand Library and Art Center will feature Topaz 22 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday. The Glendale City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Brand Library and Art Center as part of its "City Council in Your Neighborhood" program.
