As many as 25,000 people attended the annual Montrose Oktoberfest this past Saturday, making the 38th year of the festival "the best year ever," according to officials with the Montrose-Verdugo City Chamber of Commerce. Crowds made their way to Honolulu Avenue for a day and night of German culture, rides, live music, games, food and, of course, beer. Comment?

Teen Night Out will be held from 5:30 to 10 p.m. on Friday at the Pacific Community Center, 501 S. Pacific Ave. The final performance in a music series in the plaza at Brand Library and Art Center will feature Topaz 22 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday. The Glendale City Council will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Brand Library and Art Center as part of its "City Council in Your Neighborhood" program. Comment?
