    An Urbana man on parole for attempted murder was arrested Thursday after police found a gun and ammunition in his home. An Urbana police report said officers were helping parole agents with compliance checks when they went to the home of James Wiley in the 2100 block of East Country Squire Drive about 12:30 p.m. A search turned up a gun and ammunition in the home, where children were present, according to Assistant State's Attorney Matt Banach.

    A prosecutor said Friday an attack in the Champaign County Jail on a man accused of murder was allegedly orchestrated by gang members in retaliation for the killing. Mario N. Jones, 27, whose last known address was in the 300 block of South Johnson Street, Urbana, and Turhan Sims, 27, of the 1000 block of North Busey Avenue, were both charged Friday with aggravated battery for allegedly beating Brandon Collier, 21, while at the satellite jail on Lierman Avenue on Wednesday.
