    This weekend, the City of Ukiah Recreation Department will be holding their annual Bud Light Summer Shootout softball tournament. The tournament is now in its 10th year and will be hosting 18 local men's slow pitch teams beginning Saturday morning, July 9, with 13 of those teams moving on to a single elimination bracket beginning Sunday morning, July 10. The weekend slow pitch tournament will also include special events and awards such as “Helluva Plays”, team awards, All-Tourney awards, MVP award, and a Home Run Derby.

    The Ukiah City Council Wednesday voted to rescind a mandatory water conservation order and instead ask residents to voluntarily conserve water. The order was passed by the council last year after Gov. Jerry Brown ordered California residents to cut water use by 25 percent, and the city of Ukiah was expected to use 20-percent less water than it had in 2013.

    A Ukiah man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after reportedly being seen dropping his motorcycle at least twice, the Ukiah Police Department reported. According to the UPD, an officer saw a man riding a motorcycle in the 100 block of East Gobbi Street shortly before 2 a.m. July 1 fall over and struggle to right the motorcycle.

Hanley Investment Group Real Estate Advisors, based in Corona Del Mar, announced the completion of the sale Thursday morning of the 106,000- square-foot shopping center in Ukiah near the North State Street Highway 101 interchange.
