    Two buildings were destroyed in the Carousel Industrial Park Sunday when a fire broke out around 3 p.m. Two commercial buildings were destroyed Sunday when a fire broke out in the Carousel Industrial Park, the Ukiah Valley Fire Authority reported. The fire was reported around 3 p.m. May 30, and UVFA Division Chief Kevin Jennings said when a Cal Fire engine arrived on scene the firefighters saw flames coming from the back of the building.

    The Mendocino County Board of Supervisors took steps May 17 toward utilizing the $1.3 million in Mental Health Services Act housing funding available to the county, directing staff to begin identifying potential locations to construct a mental health housing facility. Supervisors instructed the Rural Communities Housing Development Corporation, contracted with county staff, to begin meeting with Willits, Fort Bragg, and Ukiah city staff to determine if any available properties could fit housing needs to apply the available funds, and to seek additional funds to leverage and expand the project.

    A 23-year-old Willits man faces additional charges after reportedly punching a corrections deputy while being held at the Mendocino County Jail in Ukiah. Corey Ladd was being removed from his cell in Wing 4 for a shower at 8:15 p.m. May 16 when he began punching the corrections deputy in the face, according to a sheriff's report on the incident.
