A public hearing for the project's revised Environmental Impact Report, which will need to be approved before the project can move forward, was scheduled to be held at Wednesday's Planning Commission meeting, but a staffing issue postponed it.

    The highlight of the Chamberlain Creek trail is this 50-foot waterfall deep in the Jackson Demonstration State Forest off Highway 20. Now that the rain has slowed and the ground is drying up a bit, it's time to venture out and enjoy the changes the extra wet winter has made to the outdoors, including some extra-full waterfalls. And while there are plenty of lists circulating that mention two of Mendocino County's waterfalls, which are both either on or near the coast, there is one much closer to Ukiah that is often overlooked: the cascading waterfall along the Mayacamas Trail on Cow Mountain.

    The Ukiah City Council will likely vote Wednesday on whether the city should join a new agency designed to manage the Ukiah Valley's water resources. Called the Ukiah Valley Basin Groundwater Sustainability Agency, it will be a Joint Powers Authority made up of several local water districts, and its creation will satisfy the mandate in the state's Sustainable Groundwater Management Act that the Ukiah area water basin have an agency in place by the end of June.

The relentlessness now reminds us of the bogus 2002 war propaganda about Saddam and “WMD.” Ukiah's memorized chant for sprawl has been well disseminated and is now promulgated by high paid city, county, hospital, and special district officials.

Trump's tax returns. “We need to see who he owes money to and who he is beholden to,” said Robin Sunbeam, waiting in Alex R. Thomas Jr. Plaza around 11 a.m. April 15 with the group of about 50 people preparing to march up State Street to the Mendocino County Courthouse.

    The Ukiah City Council will be asked to approve promoting Shannon Riley to the position of deputy city manager at its next meeting Wednesday, a move that would have salaries for the city manager's office alone costing the city more than $400,000. According to the staff report prepared for the April 19 meeting, enough money to reclassify Riley's current position of senior management analyst was allocated in the city's budget, but the City Council requested that the item be brought back to be considered separately.

    A Ukiah man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after reportedly causing a disturbance inside J.C. Penney, the Ukiah Police Department reported. According to the UPD, officers responded to the business on North Orchard Avenue around 3:50 p.m. April 11 when it was reported that a man was causing a disturbance inside the store.
