    When a Rhode Island woman was arrested by the Tyngsboro police late last month in an alleged domestic-related stabbing, police were unsure under the new domestic-violence laws if they were allowed to release the name of the alleged stabber. Tyngsboro Police Chief Richard Howe told The Sun his initial interpretation of the law was that the Aug. 18 arrest of Michelle Smith, 48, of Providence, accused of stabbing her boyfriend in the shoulder with a knife, should be public.

Police said they were called to the TD Bank at Middlesex Road and Pond View Place at 2:05 p.m. for a report that a man passed a teller a note demanding cash and indicating he had a gun.
