    Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are investigating a one-vehicle crash Wednesday night that left both Tybee Island occupants in critical condition. Carrie Cooper, 37, was transported by ambulance and Richard Burnsed, 47, was airlifted to Memorial University Medical Center after both were ejected into the marsh on US 80 East about 9 p.m. Burnsed was driving a 2004 Toyota Tundra west on US 80 a half mile west of Fort Pulaski when he lost control of the pickup.

The Savannah area collected $16 million in hotel/motel tax in the first three quarters of 2014, a nearly 14 percent year-over-year growth from $14 million in 2013.
