    A lengthy public meeting on Nov. 16 that drew more than 200 people, most of whom were opposed to a proposed Dollar General store in the community of Lake Don Pedro, may get a sort of do-over next month. Joe Dell of Cross Development, the Texas-based firm that would build the store for Dollar General, filed an appeal attempting to overturn the Tuolumne County Planning Commission's denial of permits for the project.

    A portion of Highway 108 between Confidence and Sugarpine roads east of Twain Harte was closed Monday morning while Tuolumne County Sheriff's Deputies negotiated with a suicidal and armed man who had barricaded himself in his car. A Tuolumne County Sheriff's news release said deputies negotiated with the man for over four hours before he decided to peacefully exit his vehicle without the firearm.

    Bo Lewis Morey, 24, of Twain Harte, was killed Sunday morning in a vehicle accident on Highway 108, east of Soulsbyville Road. Morey was traveling eastbound on Highway 108 in an unknown lane and at an unknown speed in a 1995 Toyota Corolla when he traveled off the north edge of the road and overturned down the dirt center median embankment, a California Highway Patrol news release stated.
