    A man was killed Saturday morning in northern New York when his snow mobile went off a trail and crashed into a tree, the New York State Police said. About 8:40 a.m. troopers from the Lowville barracks responded to a report of a snowmobile accident on the McGoldrick Truck Trail in the Highmarket area in the town of West Turin.

Turin firefighters at 4:32 p.m. were called to the Clark Miller residence at 511 Route 26 and requested mutual aid from Constableville and Martinsburg fire departments.

    Following an absentee ballot count Wednesday, unofficial results in a three-way race for a Turin council seat now have Edward Koss in the lead with 134 votes, followed by Democrat Edward Kubinski with 133 and Timothy Paczkowski with 62. Mr. Kubinski had led by two votes following an election-night count Nov. 1. In the town of Harrisburg, David Lyndaker still narrowly leads Lisa Sawdey, 82-81, in a race for clerk/tax collector after being up by five votes on election night. And, in the village of Harrisville, Richard Malbeuf has apparently claimed an open trustee seat with 107 votes, followed by Zachary Smith with 94 and Michelle LaPlatney with 23; Mr. Malbeuf had led by 10 votes on election night.
