Abelove for his controversial handling of a case involving the fatal shooting of a DWI suspect by a Troy police officer last April. The order empowers the office of Attorney General Eric Schneiderman to conduct a wide-ranging public corruption probe of Abelove's conduct, including his decision to present the case to a grand jury that cleared the officer of wrongdoing less than a week after the shooting.
