    USA Cycling has issued a ruling on the cyclist seen punching another racer after the Fitchburg Downtown Criterium late last month. Jerome Townsend , 26, of Princeton, was captured on video throwing two punches at the head of David Warner , 31, of Jamaica Plain, shortly after the finish of the pro 1/2 Fitchburg Downtown Criterium, the third event in the three-day Longsjo Classic, on June 28. After an investigation of nearly three weeks, USA Cycling handed down a ruling to Townsend on July 17, according to Kevin Loughery , communications director for USA Cycling, the governing body of bicycle racing in the United States.

    A ruling on possible sanctions against cyclists involved in an altercation at the Longsjo Classic in Fitchburg two weeks ago is expected from USA Cycling this week. Mark Guthart, technical director of USA Cycling, the governing body of bicycle racing in the United States, said Friday the investigation is ongoing but he expects the investigator to file a report within a few days.
