    We are still waiting for the promised rains to arrive but in the spirit of optimism, the Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains , the Topanga Canyon Town Council , the California State Parks and the Watershed Stewards Program are hosting an oak tree planting to restore oak woodland habitat in Zev's Grove in lower Topanga Canyon at the Rodeo Grounds on Saturday, February 6. From 9:30-10 a.m., join in the information session about the watershed and oak planting demonstrations. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. plant the trees! Clean-up and refreshments follow.

    Topanga lost an enduring, creative and community force when Mark Benson passed from a courageous battle against cancer on Sunday, January 10. Born in Haddington, Scotland on July 16, 1967, Mark earned a BFA from West Surrey College of Art and Design and was accepted to the prestigious Masters in Experimental Film program at CalArts. He took his production, set and fine arts talents to open his own firm, Prototype Studio, where he created award-winning productions for Apple, Comcast, AT&T, Coors, Dior and others.
