    Karen Kae Boege, 59, Garwin, entered an Alford plea to a charge of 1st degree theft - misappropriate property in excess of $10,000 in Tama County District Court in Toledo on Thursday morning, April 27. Judge Paul D. Miller set sentencing for June 8. An Alford plea does not admit guilt on the part of the defendant but does allow enough evidence exists to likely result in a conviciton if the case is heard in court. A plea hearing and sentencing hearing for Karen Boege's husband, Steven Eugene Boege, 60, who also faces a charge of 1st degree theft, was set for June 8. The Boeges were both charged on Dec. 31, 2016, for allegedly using a total f $13,551 in Garwin Ambulance service funds for personal use and improper expenditures.
