  1. Letter: Compensation now for victims of Tivoli Gardens massacreRead the original story

Monday Jan 19 | Caribbean News Now!

Dear Sir: In light of the outrageous amounts being paid to commissioners, counsel and secretarial staff investigating the 2010 Tivoli Gardens massacre it is important to make the following points: 1. This obscene amount of money is being paid to the commissioners is partly to appease the United States government that something is being done about the Tivoli Gardens massacre, and in reaction to concerns carried out by the Human Rights office of the State Department about JCF extrajudicial killings. 2. Despite reference to "adequacy of compensation" in the terms of reference, the government has given no indication that it intends to comprehensively compensate the victims of the 2010 massacre and this is also obscene.

    Nov 30, 2014 | Caribbean News Now!

Dear Acting Public Defender Matondo Mukulu, Re: Compensation for criminal destruction of property by Jamaican state I am truly shocked to see in a Gleaner report that after four year and a half years the best that the Office of the Public Defender can do re the criminal destruction of people's property during the 2010 Tivoli Gardens massacre is to submit, cap in hand, a list of 70 out of 700 claims for compensation! This is preposterous.

    Sep 28, 2014 | Caribbean News Now!

Dear Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller, Minister of National Security Peter Bunting, Minister of Justice Mark Golding, Attorney General Patrick Atkinson I write to you collectively and publicly to make the point that in the face of a human rights crisis in Jamaica you have not been able to respond to the crisis in a decisive way, either in your individual portfolio capacity or, collectively as government. You seem either to not recognize the crisis or lack the political will to act meaningfully.

  4. Letter: Jamaican government cannot come clean about Ellington because of its complicityRead the original story

    Jul 8, 2014 | Caribbean News Now!

Dear Sir: If it is true that our "international partners" have evidence against Owen Ellington that required revoking his visa and forcing him into early retirement, then obviously the charges must be quite serious and compelling.
