    A convicted child molester was sentenced to 26 years in state prison Monday for sexually assaulting children at the Pines Community Center in Northfield where he worked as a janitor. Robert Magoon, 75, of Tilton was convicted in late March of three counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault - all alleging a pattern of abuse - and one count of felonious sexual assault.

    A Northfield man accused of choking a woman and hitting her in the head multiples times with a handgun has been indicted by a Merrimack County grand jury. David Fielding, 35, is charged with second-degree assault, reckless conduct, domestic violence and tampering with witnesses in connection with the incident at a Diana Road residence on Jan. 25. Police say Fielding fled the Northfield home after the early-morning assault and attempted to avoid apprehension by hiding out inside a Franklin residence.

Robert Magoon, 75, of Tilton is serving a 25- to 60-year prison state sentence for molesting an 8-year-old girl at the Pines Community Center in Northfield, where he worked as a maintenance supervisor for 15 years.
