    Fort Ticonderoga has been awarded a $10,000 grant to support the study of the evolution of a building on the historic property that's considered one of the oldest continuously run road houses in the nation. Officials with the not-for-profit educational organization that operates the tourist attraction in Essex County say the grant is by the National Trust for Historic Preservation from the Johanna Favrot Fund for Historic Preservation.

    International Paper failed to supply a 57-year-old employee with fire-resistant clothing and did not train him and other staff on the physical hazards of combustible fly ash, according to a report by the US Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration . An inspection of the firm's Ticonderoga, New York paper mill following the incident which led to the death of Jorg Borowski, in January, also found the system for conveying and collecting fly ash was deficient.
