    Congresswomen Julia Brownley, D-Westlake Village, and Annie Kuster, D-New Hampshire, have called for an investigation into reports that members of President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort have influenced decisions by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Brownley, who is the House Veterans' Affairs Health Subcommittee Ranking Member, and Kuster, an Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Ranking Member, requested that the Veterans Affairs Inspector General investigate claims first reported by ProPublica that personal friends of Donald Trump have been issuing orders and exerting influence over staff of the VA "without any accountability," says Brownley in a statement.

    Irwin's workplace sexual harassment bill signed into law Legislation authored by local Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin, D-Thousand Oaks, that addresses the issue of hiring repeat sexual offenders has been signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown. AB 2770 allows employers to speak openly about sexual harassment investigations without fear of potential litigation if questioned by a potential new employer in regard to a prospective employee, and makes it less likely that an accused harasser can file a defamation suit against the victim.

    Ventura Housing Authority receives $1 million The Housing Authority of the City of San Buenaventura, in partnership with Montecito Bank & Trust, has won $1 million in funding from Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco's Affordable Housing Program in support of future development sites at Willett Ranch and Rancho Verde in the city of Ventura. FHLBank of San Francisco announced the grant on June 26, along with 70 other projects in seven states.
