State Court of Fulton County Judge Jay Roth entered orders Jan. 27 and Jan. 30 dismissing The City of Thomson and McDuffie County, owners of the Thomson-McDuffie Regional Airport, individual representatives and parties working on behalf of the city-county with prejudice following a Dec. 19, 2016, confidential settling of negligence suits filed by families of the five people who perished in the Feb. 20, 2013, plane crash.

    Thomson Fire Rescue firefighters and EMTs and Thomson Police officers treat a woman at the gas pump of the Sprint Food Store after the pedestrian was hit by a car in the crosswalk at the intersection of Jackson Street and East and West Hill streets shortly before 8 a.m., Feb. 14. A car struck a woman in the crosswalk of a Thomson street Tuesday morning, and the woman was transported to Augusta University Medical Center for her injuries Feb. 14. Shortly before 8 a.m., the woman, identified as Toni Crane, crossed the street at the intersection of Jackson and East and West Hill streets after buying coffee at the Sprint Convenience Store and was hit by a car, turning left. The woman is a resident at the nearby motel on Jackson Street.

The Columbia County Superior Court indicted Jackson Bleau Pentecost, 19, of Thomson, and William Clayton Myers, 19, of Thomson, in the Aug. 14, 2016, death of Tyler Ross Crawford, 24, who was a passenger in the 1994 Jeep Cherokee driven by Pentecost.

Jack Smallwood, 56, of Thomson, and Dawn Thomas, 44, of Harlem, were arrested by the Thomson Police Department on Feb. 2. According to the Thomson Police Department, they assisted the McDuffie County Board of Education in the investigation of funds missing from the Thomson High School Band Boosters Club.

    An investigation into the killing of more than the allotted amount of antlered deer during the 2016-2017 hunting season resulted in local game wardens arresting two Thomson men for possessing a quantity of marijuana with an estimated street value of $292,000. 'This starting as a poaching ring investigation which resulted in a drug seizure,' said game wardens at the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Region 3 office in Thomson.
