    Residents of Lack and Tuscarora townships continued to fight for their school Wednesday night, during a public hearing held to discuss the closure of four of the district's elementary schools. Juniata County School District Board of Directors Solicitor Scott Etter, who led the meeting, said a hearing to close a school building is required by the state three months prior to the vote to officially voting to close the school.

    Juniata County School District locked in its rate, authorizing an $8 million final bond issue to finance its elementary school construction/renovation projects at the board's regular meeting Thursday night. Jens Damgard, a representative from Eckert Seamans Attorneys at Law told the board of school directors that the interest rate is expected to be locked in by Aug. 27. In an 8-1 vote, the board approved a $43,572.43 change order for door security changes and modifications at Juniata Elementary School.

    Kelly Decker, 31, of Lewistown, was charged Thursday with 14 criminal counts, including four counts burglary and one count forgery, after breaking into several camping cabins in Huntingdon County and forging an alibi from her alleged employer, according to court documents. Decker reportedly burglarized two cabins in the area of West Licking Creek, one cabin in the Spruce Run Hunting Club Camp and one cabin in the Hemlock Springs camp sometime between May 11 and May 26, 2017, according to court documents.
